The gay club scene really is shifting – literally, in fact, to Jackson. Club Detour, the new queer club that opened early last month, is located in the generally conservative town, at 2216 E. Michigan Ave., and hasn’t ignited any negative commotion, said owner Nancy Minix to the Jackson Citizen Patriot recently (BTL could not reach Minix by press time).
In fact, all Minix has been hearing is gratitude from the community, thanking her – and her husband, who co-owns the establishment – for opening a gay hangout in an area where there wouldn’t typically be one. According to the Jackson Citizen Patriot, clubgoers statewide have been flocking to Club Detour, which boasts karaoke, go-go dancers and drag shows. The club is open to those 18 years old and older.
