Yes, I regretfully must say that the ick factor does exist and seemingly works against us ("Political IQ: Overcoming the 'ick' factor," BTL Feb. 19). I know some very loving, progressive and open-minded people who are supportive of LGBT people and advocate for our rights, but they admit that they cannot handle, in their mind's eye, the visualization and idea of same-sex male contact. They admit that when two females are engaged in sexual relations they are not as, or not at all upset by such sexual relations. I think this negative perception and image needs to be addressed and changed in order to get the middle of the roaders and even some of our advocates and supporters on our side. I think the focus should be on how we love, care and support each other, our partners, children, families, friends and associates. Then maybe we will make some progress in acquiring and securing our basic human rights.
