Jazz Combo to perform Mister Rogers' songs

BIRMINGHAM — Mr. McFeely (David Newell) comes to the neighborhood for an evening of beloved songs written by public television legend Mister Rogers. Favorite area vocalists Judie Cochill, Marc Meyers and Tom Trenney will join Mr. McFeely and the Neighborhood Jazz Combo for this special occasion — a perfect evening of entertainment for children and grown-ups of all ages.
Many Voices … One Song offers this concert as part of the Ovations! Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19-20,
No tickets are required, and there is no admission fee. A free-will offering will be collected. Proceeds will benefit Variety FAR Conservatory — a private nonprofit organization that provides creative arts therapy and recreation services for children with autism and other special needs.
In addition, audience members are encouraged to bring new or gently used sweaters to contribute to the Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive.
Warm clothing will be collected and distributed to families who need extra warmth this winter. A meet-the-artists reception will follow the concert, and Mr. McFeely will be available for pictures and autographs.
