Trans hero and record-breaking “Jeopardy!” champ Amy Schneider just shared some big news — she’s been a married woman for almost five months!
Schneider, who is the most successful woman to ever compete on the show with a 40-game winning streak and $1.3 million in winnings, married Genevieve Davis May 9 in a small private civil ceremony in Alameda County, California.
In a Facebook statement, Schneider said, “We will be having a traditional wedding next summer, but our lives have been much too busy this year to get very far in planning it, and we couldn’t wait that long to proclaim our love and commitment to each other.”
Our favorite trivia champ tweeted the news and some adorable wedding pics Tuesday:
A year ago today, I was in LA, waiting to fulfill a dream. The year since has been full of good days, but by far the best one was May 9th, when Genevieve and I got married. Without her, none of the other good days would have happened. I’m so lucky to share my life with her!👰♀️❤️👰♀️ pic.twitter.com/6zG1OpbBZV

One photo showcases Schneider’s prominent upper arm tattoo, which she had to hide when she appeared on “Jeopardy!” Schneider explained the meaning of her ink on Twitter last year. “My tattoo is indeed Ozma of Oz,” she wrote. “For those who don’t know, L. Frank Baum wrote many sequels to ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ and in all of them the ruler of Oz was Princess Ozma. She had been the rightful heir, but was kidnapped as a baby by a sorceress, who enchanted her to become a boy.”
“Eventually, the enchantment is lifted, and she is revealed to be the beautiful princess she always was,” Schneider added. “So it seemed like the perfect image to commemorate my transition!”
