LAAN may have made right decision

This seems like it might actually be a realistic, if tough, decision for management of LAAN to take ("Turmoil arises at LAAN after layoffof long-time staff member," BTL Feb. 19), especially given the many funding strings often attached to grants and the fact that income to the agency has gone down, even before the recession really hit home, while Lombardi was at the helm as the fundraising and development guy. Hopefully it is temporary, but if the development guy is not bringing in the bucks, can we expect different? Years ago, there used to be a funded position for volunteer coordinator, and I believe Lombardi did that job with enthusiasm, but funding for volunteer coordination eventually was phased out. LAAN tried hard to keep him on even after that funding dried up. Now LAAN may have no good choice left.
