LGBT Detroit’s Hotter Than July 2018 Schedule

Starting on July 24, LGBT Detroit will be celebrating Hotter Than July, an annual event that helps provide people in the LGBTQ community with both entertaining and educational experiences in an inclusive space. This year will be the 23rd ever Hotter Than July event, lasting through July 29. Look below for a full schedule of this year’s events:

Tuesday, July 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. — LGBT Community Chat and Candlelight Vigil
Offering program assistance, awareness, addressing concerns, and respecting those that have gone on before. Chairs: Lawrence Pennymon of LGBT Detroit and Detroit Police Department LGBT Liaison Corporal Dani Woods.
Admittance: Free
Palmer Park

Wednesday, July 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. — Resource Fair and Opening Party
A community resource fair highlighting area service providers. Chairs: Nathan Strickland, Jr. of Community Health Awareness Group and Jeyence Poindexter of Equality Michigan.
Admittance: Free

Friday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The Hotter Than July Conference
LGBT Detroit and Community Health Awareness Group hosts The 23rd Annual Hotter Than July Conference. This annual gathering for LGBT issues addresses relevant and important concerns. The day consists of “The Candidates Forum” in the morning and the “My Voice My Vote” seminar in the afternoon. Free breakfast provided by The Counter Narrative Project.
Chairs: Alfredo Smith of Unified and Jamesion King of LGBT Detroit.

Friday, July 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. — Fine Arts Reception
Art featured by Detroit-based artists.

Saturday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Palmer Park Picnic
Join LGBT Detroit for a day in the sun at the annual Palmer Park Picnic. Included will be artists: Ms. Honey Twista Sista, DJ Tone and DJ Tony Peoples host Hotter Than July House at Palmer Palmer Picnic. The event is free and open to all.

Sunday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to noon — Worship Service
The LGBTQ worship service hosted by Detroit’s faith community. Chairs: Rev. Jeffery Seals of One Church Detroit and Detroit Police Department LGBT Liaison Corporal Dani Woods.

Sunday, July 29 from noon to 3 p.m. — Sunday Brunch
A final brunch to end Hotter Than July 2018 with a party.
