Meadow Brook announces 2007-08 season

ROCHESTER – The Theatre Ensemble has announced its 2007-2008 season at Meadow Brook Theatre. The season includes:

Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure by Steven Dietz, Oct. 10- Nov. 4: Now for the very first time ever on a stage in Michigan, a chilling mystery and gleeful whodunit, involving a kidnapped damsel, scandalous letters and Victorian London's seamy underworld, finds Master Sleuth Sherlock Holmes pitted against his two most perilous foes, certain death and impassioned love. Adapted from two 1899 plays by William Gillette and Holmes' creator, Arthur Conan Doyle.

Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire, Jan. 9-Feb. 3, 2008: Direct from its Tony winning Broadway run, this intensely emotional play is the examination of one family's grief, laced with wit, insight, compassion and searing honesty – and their capacity for survival. Nominated for five 2006 Tony Awards. Michigan premiere.

Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon, Feb. 13-March 9, 2008: The continuing story of Simon's alter ego New Yorker Eugene Jerome on his way to boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi to train for WWII. This classic fish out of water story is a winner of the Tony Award for Best Play.

Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Hutchinson, March 19- April 13, 2008: This delightful new play takes audiences into the inner sanctum of 1939 Hollywood for one hilarious week as three icons of the film industry battle over how to save what became one of greatest movies ever made, "Gone With The Wind." Michigan premiere.

Man of La Mancha by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion, music by Mitch Leigh, April 23- May 18, 2008: This play-within-a-play, based on Cervantes' "Don Quixote," is one of the great theater successes of our time and speaks for humankind. It is the passionate and poignant tale of a noble knight who lives in a world of madness, and dreams Everyman's dream seeking to find compassion not for himself but for others. Winner of five Tony Awards and five smash hit Broadway runs.

The Rocky Horror Show By Richard O'Brien, TBA: Catch the return of the smash hit musical to Meadow Brook Music Festival! Join Brad and Janet as they time warp with Dr. Frank-n-Furter and his madcap cohorts during Meadow Brook Theatre's annual award-winning production.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, adapted by Charles Nolte, Nov. 23- Dec. 23: Join us for Meadow Brook Theatre's beloved holiday tradition and family favorite. Charles Nolte returns to Meadow Brook to direct his stunning adaptation of the Dickens classic, with Peter Gregory Thomson reprising his critically acclaimed role as Scrooge.

Every Christmas Story Ever Told by Carleton, Alvarez and Fitzgerald, original music by Will Knapp, Nov. 29-Dec. 9: Three actors attempt to seriously perform the obligatory annual stage production of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Two of the troupe are tired of performing only this story and convince the other actor to include other BHC ("Beloved Holiday Classics"). He reluctantly agrees as long as "A Christmas Carol" is still included. What follows as they infect the audience with holiday spirit is the presentation of, you guessed it, every Christmas story ever told.
