Michigan LGBTQ+ Leaders to Headline Transgender Day of Empowerment Conference May 17

Jason A. Michael

The 13th annual Transgender Day of Empowerment conference will take place virtually May 17 through 22.

"TDOE is a celebration of self, by understanding our journey thus far, and a day of decision, declaration and doing by taking ownership of our existence and boldly taking one more step forward in our journey of self-actualization and embracing our true selves," reads the mission statement drafted by this year's TDOE planning committee. "Recognizing the most important relationship we will ever have is the one we will have with ourselves, and embracing positive attitudes, encouraging solution-oriented perspectives and elevating the way we think."

Speakers at the conference include Gerri Anne Carney, Rachel Crandall Crocker, Lance Hicks, Jay Kaplan, Tyler Liberty, Nyrobi M'Baku, Brayden Misiolek, Sage Mitchell, Stephen Rassi and Robert Zurenko.

Daily times vary but all weekday talks take place in the evening and usually start at either 6:30 or 7 p.m. Saturday's talk begins at 9:30 a.m.

There is no cost to attend the conference. To register visit transgenderempowerment.org.
