Milk' sneak preview benefit event at the Michigan Theater

ANN ARBOR – A coalition of Ann Arbor organizations have banded together to present a special sneak preview benefit screening of "Milk," the new Harvey Milk biopic at the Michigan Theater on Dec. 18.
The evening kicks off with a reception in the theaterÕs Grand Foyer at 5:30 p.m., featuring a chocolate fountain from Schakolad, catering by DINE/aut/, a cash bar and music by dj janks. "Milk" will screen in the theaterÕs Historic Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit WRAP Resource Center, HIV/AIDS Resource Center, UM Spectrum Center and the Michigan Theater Foundation.
"Milk" tells the story of Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn), who was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977, becoming the first openly gay man in America to be voted into public office. His platform was and is one of hope – a hero's legacy that resonates to this day. The film was directed by Gus Van Sant and also stars Josh Brolin and James Franco.
