New photography exhibit to open at Affirmations Gallery

On Sept. 12, the newest exhibition of photos will open at the Affirmations Community Center's Pittmann-Puckett Art Gallery. The exhibit will open with a viewing from 7-9 p.m.
"Gods and Goddesses: The Embracing of Self" will feature provocative photographs taken by artist Felecia Hunt-Taylor. The photos capture the inner strength and beauty of the subjects in them, and show the artist's exploration of the various dimensions of the inner self. Each subject is observed metaphorically, as an element or a celestial creation, and brief descriptions will accompany each piece.
The photos capture the inner strength and beauty of the men and women that Hunt-Taylor brings to life through her camera lens. "The story of the strong man and woman has been told in many ways, but this is the version through my eyes," she said.
In the past, Hunt-Taylor has shown her work at the Metropolitan Art Center, Detroit Art Market Gallery, Detroit Focus Gallery and others. She was also the first black woman to display her photography at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History.
