Open houses April 7 at the Hilberry Theatre

DETROIT – Ever wanted to know what the Hilberry Theatre is all about? Well, here's your chance. The Hilberry Theatre has announced its second annual Open House, scheduled for Saturday, April 7! Experience the Hilberry Theatre, enjoy refreshments, talk with Hilberry Theatre Company members, tour the Hilberry Theatre and see a "sneak-peek" performance of the company's 2007-2008 season.
The Hilberry 2007-2008 season is an eclectic, exciting and comedic mix that includes: "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" by Jess Borgeson, Adam Long and Daniel Singer; "The Lusty and Comical History of Tom Jones" by John Morrison; Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues"; "As You Like it" by William Shakespeare; "The Master Builder" by Henrik Ibsen; and "The Compleat Female Stage Beauty" by Jeffrey Hatcher.
Located in Detroit and founded in 1963, the Hilberry Theatre is home to the nation's only true graduate rotating repertory theatre. As Michigan's most attended producing theater, the Hilberry draws subscribers from not only Detroit and surrounding counties, but from as far away as Ohio and Canada. The rotating repertory style has established the Hilberry as a cultural institution in the heart of Detroit. Hilberry productions are designed, staffed, managed and performed by up-and-coming theater professionals. The Hilberry has been honored with numerous awards by Detroit newspapers, including "Theatre of the Year" (The Detroit News), "Best Professional Theatre" (Between the Lines), "Best Play" and "Best Director" (The Detroit Free Press), "Best Overall Season 2003 – 2004" (The Oakland Press), as well as many individual awards for company members. According to The Detroit News, the Hilberry Theatre is "arguably the longest running, large-scale success story in Detroit drama."
The Open Houses will be held at the Hilberry Theatre on Saturday, April 7, 2007. The first Open House begins at 12:30 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m. performance. The second party begins at 3 p.m. with a 4 p.m. performance. Performances last 40 minutes.
