Open letter to TLGB community

Pride Source
Opinions Detroit

Dear all,
Many of you know you know I lost the love and shining light of my life, Jamie Marie Phillips-Fox. She was a proud member of the transgender, lesbian, gay, and bi community and wore that pride well. She lived her short life for us all. She loved being an activist, and being able to help out wherever she can.
The tribute given to her in the June 15, 2006 issue of BTL written by Dawn Wolfe Gutterman was very moving for me.
On the weekend during visitation and her funeral the TLGB community came out in many numbers and expressed their love for her and myself. For this I will be eternally grateful.
Jamie's family was very welcomed by our community. We have embraced them and hopefully they had an eye-opening experience that was positive. They kept telling me over and over again how welcomed they were.
So once again I will say thank you for all the love and prayers for Jamie and myself. Those prayers have helped through this difficult time.
Michelle Fox-Phillips,
Co-founder of Transgender Detroit
