OutCasting Wraps Up 2017 With Program Expansion

OutCasting is public radio programming designed by and made for the LGBTQ community. Members of the program are LGBTQ youth, OutCasters, who delve into hot-button issues in an effort to inform the general public about LGBTQ activism and struggles. Over the course of 2017, OutCasters have achieved several goals:

  • OutCasting's production has doubled, making it a monthly program.
  • OutCasting has maintained the production of OutCasting Overtime, its second series of shorter programs.
  • The number of public radio stations on which both OutCasting and OutCasting Overtime are heard have expanded to more than 50.
  • There has been a spike in the OutCasters who have joined the program this year.

Although OutCasting is headquartered in New York, Michigan State University houses the program's first offshoot bureau. Ultimately, it is the aim for OutCasters to create content across the U.S. The program is produced by Media for the Public Good, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Currently, OutCasting is fundraising to help support its 2018 programming. More information about both OutCasting, OutCasting Overtime and how to donate can be found online at OutCastingMedia.org.
