Paint with purpose

On Saturday, Nov. 20, Ferndale's Painting with a Twist art studio will host the first Paint with a Purpose class to benefit Higher Ground. Up to 60 percent of the class proceeds will be donated to this Royal Oak-based non-profit organization works with people living with HIV/AIDS to cope with the disease and offers holistic support to them through support groups, guest speakers, Reiki, yoga and retreats, as well as an annual AIDS walk and Blankets for AIDS drive.
The inaugural Paint with a Purpose class follows the tradition set by the founders of Corks N Canvas,Aeoe (the parent company of Painting with a Twist) which was established to provide post-Katrina victims with an artistic outlet as well as an enjoyable social experience. Lewis,Aeo Ferndale studio aims to do the same for metro Detroit residents by giving them a place to explore their creative side and interact with friends and area residents over a bottle of wine, all while supporting a great cause.
