Put best foot forward

Don't fret! Ferndale's 22nd annual Foot Frolic on May 18 won't be like climbing Mount Everest. It's a flat street course – with trees decorating the path to and from Gerry Kulick Community Center, where the benefit race will start and end. Proceeds will be donated to Ferndale Recreation Youth Programs and Summer Camps.
The one-mile "fun run" will begin at 9 a.m. while the 10K run will launch at 9:30 a.m. Trophies will be given to the male and female finishers in both foot frolics, while those who place second and third will receive medals.
Participants can register on race day for $35 and pick up a packet inside the Kulick Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. To provide a safe course, the Ferndale police will assist in traffic control. Free parking is available at the Kulick Center and on surrounding streets (parking restrictions will be lifted during the event).
