DETROIT- On Oct. 15 Dr. Renee McCoy became the new Director of HIV/AIDS Programs for the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion. McCoy faces a daunting task moving into the position. In much of the past 25 years, she has done HIV/AIDS work.
In an email announcing her new position she said, "We have just not done a great job of addressing the needs and concerns of those most affected by this disease in the Detroit metropolitan area, either in terms of prevention or care. So, I am asking all of you simply to keep me in your prayers from time to time and send me a positive vibe when you can."
BTL plans on filing an extensive interview with Dr. McCoy in the near future.
