RockOUT for PRIDE October 17

By Sarah Mieras

LANSING – Girl-powered indie rock will come alive during RockOUT for Pride, a one-night fundraiser for the 2004 Michigan Pride festival stage.
After two breath-taking performances on the Michigan Pride festival stage in 2003, opening for Melissa Etheridge in August, and a recent showcase in Nashville, The Decline will return to Michigan on Friday, October 17 to RockOUT Lansing's Club Esquire.
Led by Heather Gmuks and Eve Muzik, The Decline delivers an intimate performance pulling from traditions such as blues, folk, rock, and even a touch of punk. The Decline is guaranteed to pull the audience to its feet.
Starting the night of girl powered music off will be Lansing's own Millenary, fronted by singer-songwriter/guitarist Sarah Stollak with bassist Tammy Cook, formerly of Half Looking, and drummer Shawn Doolittle. A dedicated mover and shaker in the world of indie music, Stollak has organized Lansing's Lady Fest for the past two years. Millenary delivers a dichotomy of pretty, subtle song writing and grimy, catchy rock songs.
Doors for the October 17 show will open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
The Esquire Club is located on the corner of Clinton and Turner in Lansing's Old Town. The evening will also include door prizes, raffles, and a few other surprises.
Funds raised during the RockOUT will be used to fund the June 19, 2004 Michigan Pride festival stage in Lansing's Riverfront Park. In recent years Michigan Pride has showcased acts such as Melissa Ferrick, Bitch and Animal, Sabrina Matthews, John Waters and Zoe Lewis.
