FERNDALE – They came, they saw, they danced.
And they raised money. Lots of money.
The fourth annual "Salsa" celebration raised more money than the first three years combined, according to Craig Covey, executive director of the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project. "Salsa" celebrates Mexican culture with food, music, and dancing all while supporting La Comunidad, the Latino-focused community organization that conducts health and cultural programs in southeast Michigan. This year's event was held at Boogie Fever in downtown Ferndale and featured free dance lessons, dance performances and a Latin dance competition.
According to Covey, approximately $7,000 was raised during the event to benefit La
Comunidad, "Thanks largely to our new sponsor, LaSalle Bank."
"A great time was had by all," he said.
