Sunsets with Shakespeare opens second season

LANSING – Sunsets with Shakespeare will open their summer season this month with an innovative production of "Macbeth," co-directed by Sunsets Managing Director Nathan Loding and Ron Stratton.
SWS has rounded out its cast with 11 local high school students in various roles, as well as teachers and parents from the local schools.
The shows will be in two different locations this summer. On June 23-26, June 30, and July 1-4, the play will be performed East Lansing's Valley Court Park. The July 7-10 productions will be held in Nancy L. Moore Park in Okemos. All curtains are 6:30 p.m. and are weather dependent. All shows are free with a suggested minimum donation of $2 per person.
The second show of the season will be a comedic adaptation of the Tragedy of Titus Andronicus. This adaptation, adapted and directed by Sunsets Artistic Director Todd A. Heywood, is called "The Titus Andronicus Experience." In this adaptation Heywood has turned his eye to the glorification of violence in American culture. The play will take place in a trailer park, and audience members can expect "gallons of stage blood and tons of Jerry Springer-like moments."
"The Titus Andronicus Experience" will run Aug. 21-24, and Aug. 26-29 at East Lansing's Valley Court Park only. All shows are free with a suggested minimum donation of $2 per person.
