The Duel is on

In what has been dubbed "the cooking event showdown of the season," from 6-10 p.m. on Nov. 7, Affirmations LGBT community center and the Triangle Foundation will battle it out – with pots, pans, utensils and select ingredients. The event will be held at Mirepoix Cooking School, part of Holiday Market in Royal Oak.
The Duel, originally scheduled earlier this year, was pushed back to its new date after preparations fell short in time for the event. This time, however, both groups assure that the battle is fully on.
Teams will be led by either Affirmations CEO Leslie Thompson and Triangle Executive Director Alicia Skillman and be given 30 minutes to shop for incredients before holding an all-out cook-off in the vein of "Top Chef."
Those interested are invited to participate as sous chefs and assist in the cooking, or to just attend as audience members for the surely riotous event. Either way, attendees get to taste the culinary creations.
Tickets are $50 for those who attend and $95 to participate as a sous chef or sponsor either team. All proceeds will go to both Affirmations and the Triangle Foundation.
Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.battleofthechefs.org, or by calling Affirmations Special Events Manager Carrie Copeland at 248-398-7105.
