The Right Vote

Dear BTL,
On February 7th Michigan's LGBT community can do their part to send George W. Bush back to Texas!
While I know a segment of the LGBT community has an emotional connection to certain candidates, it is imperative that we keep our eyes on the prize.
Only one candidate running in the Michigan Democratic Caucus has already defeated George W. – that's John Kerry. In a February 2nd Newsweek article, John Kerry defeated Bush 49 to 46% in the most recent poll.
Kerry is also the only candidate with a 100% consistent rating from the Human Rights Campaign.
In his 19 years in the US Senate, John Kerry has led the fight for our rights.
As cosponsor of legislation to add sexual orientation to the national Hate Crime bill and the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Prevention act, Kerry has repeatedly voted courageously for our rights.
Long before it was political correct in the Democratic Party to be pro-Gay, Senator John Kerry was fighting for us. He was one of only fourteen US Senators who voted against the Defense of Marriage act. Senator Kerry consistently spoke out on the need to protect your family in the areas of pension and survivor benefits, health care, medical and bereavement leave, and hospital visitation. He had the courage as an ex-military officer to testify against Don't Ask, Don't Tell before the Senate Arm Services Committee. Senator Kerry has supported legislation to protect gay federal employees and he voted for legislation giving the District of Columbia the right to offer domestic partner benefits.
In other words, Senator John Kerry has walked the walk not just talked the talk.
