As part of the 2010 week of Hotter Than July events, Young Brothers United and MPowerment Detroit will present their third annual town hall meeting, "The Ultimate Gay Male – Community, Culture, Celebration, Communication" from 7-10 p.m. July 22.The community event will be held in the Boulevard Room of Detroit's Hotel St. Regis.
Young Brothers United and MPowerment Detroit are community organizations that seek to bring young, black, gay men together for mutual support, skills-building and health promotion. They are both programs of the Michigan AIDS Coalition.
"Come join activists, health care professionals, peer advocates and community leaders, along with media and political figures to talk about topics that impact our community," said Wayne Stallworth, YBU program coordinator.
"These young men do amazing work at supporting each other and their community, with the ultimate goal of making society healthier and stronger," added Michigan AIDS Coalition CEO Helen Hicks. "We enjoy being an integral part of their efforts at building community."
