Upcoming events for SE Michigan Dyke March

The Southeast Michigan Dyke March has announced a slew of events leading up to their first-ever march and rally on June 5 in Ferndale.
The group will host several Open Myke nights, the first of which happens at 7 p.m. May 10 at Five15 Media, Mojo and More, located at 515 S. Washington in Royal Oak. The next Open Mykes will be held at 7 p.m. May 17 and 24 at the same location. The suggested donation is $5 and anyone is welcome to perform, but must bring their own music equipment. The May 17 event will also include a volunteer meeting.
The group will also be hosting a film screening of the movie "Fish Out of Water" at 7 p.m. May 14. Held at the Birmingham Unitarian Church, located at 38651 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills, the documentary explores the relationship between homosexuality and the Bible. The suggested donation is $7.
At 12 p.m. May 22, the group will be hosting a teach-in called "The Evolution of Activism" as part of their Harvey Milk Week of Action. This will also be held at the Birmingham Unitarian Church.
Lastly, a sign-making party will be hosted, along with a volunteer meeting and security discussion, at 2 p.m. May 29. Held at Affirmations, the event will provide a chance to prepare for the June 5 march, happening as part of Motor City Pride weekend.
The Dyke March will be collecting bottles to raise funds for the march, and is also looking for more ideas to celebrate the Harvey Milk Week of Action. To get involved, visit http://www.semidykemarch.org, or find the group on Facebook.
