Venue Switch for Two Motorball Weekend Events

Jason A. Michael

High demand for tickets has caused Geared 4 Life, the organizers of Motorball Detroit Weekend 2021, to change venues for two of their events. John Joanette, one of the weekend organizers, tells Pride Source this is "a good problem to have."

Both Friday night's GEAR Party/Thots and Prayers and Sunday's Motorball/ThotTea have been moved to the Marble Bar, located at 1501 Holden Street in Detroit.

  • The GEAR Party will take place from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • ThotTea will be from 3 to 10 p.m.

Organizers called the Marble Bar "one of Detroit's most popular underground dance venues" and promised the bar's "production capabilities will allow Motorball's audio and lighting engineers – the amazing folks at Audio Rescue Team – to bring you the high-quality sound and lighting experience that our guest DJs deserve and that will make for the optimal dance floor experience."

Discussing the event in a recent interview with Pride Source, Jason Misleh, the Motorball 2021 production manager, said, "The Geared board members came together and said, 'We're not screwing around. We want you to pull the best of the best DJs, the best of the best drag queens and the best of the best venues.'"
