Violence not the answer

It appears that Ms. Brown (What's in the "Jena 6" for us? BTL Oct. 11), and many, many others have missed the point, either by intent or otherwise.
First let me state that the white students who displayed the noose from a tree, were showing either extreme stupidity or extreme hate, either way, they deserve what they got.
But, having said that, the black students who took it upon themselves to dispense justice, were very much in the wrong!
By ASSUALTING the white students, they broke the law, period. That is what they were/are being prosecuted with. The crime of "Assault and Battery with intent to do great bodily harm." This is a FELONY. They should know better.
What they should have done, was to report the noose to the school authorities, if they did nothing, then they should have gone to the local police, if they still got nowhere, then they should have contacted the FBI and local press. NOT taken the law into their own hands and beaten the white students.
To say that someone is justified in taking the law into their own hands and hurting others because of their hate/stupidity is in itself a crime in my opinion. If in fact it is justified and justifiable to take matters into one's own hands, then when is the Lavender Army going to declare War on the Church and Washington?
Violence is only the answer in the Bible; not in America. That was the lesson of Dr. King, and it is a lesson we need to keep in the forefront, to prove the opposition wrong about us.
