LANSING – In observance of World AIDS Day 2005, the International Day of Action and the Michigan Department of Community Health, Division of Health, Wellness & Disease Control are sponsoring a World AIDS Day Celebration, and they need the help of local creative writers.
The agencies are seeking submissions for a creative writing contest, with six finalists to read during the Celebration on Dec. 1. The first place winner will also receive $100 and publication in Michigan HIV and STD News, and two runners-up will receive $50 each. Submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, and essays are being accepted.
The theme for this year's World AIDS Day is "Stop AIDS. Keep the promise." Submissions should relate to the theme and be no longer than five hundred words.
Include your name, a brief biography, and a phone number with your submission and send it to Ann Miceli, MDCH/HAPIS, Cadillac Building, 3056 W. Grand Blvd., Suite 3-150, Detroit, MI, 48202. For more information contact Miceli at [email protected] or 313-456-3112.
