Ladies Preferred debuts in Detroit Nov. 6

DETROIT – From the producers of the hit musical Gentlemen Preferred, Kick – the agency for LGBT African Americans presents a new musical of love songs by women for women called Ladies Preferred.
The event will showcase talent from the Motor City and will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6 at The Rainbow Room, 6640 East 8 Mile Road in Detroit. A meet and greet reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and show time is 8 p.m.
Ladies Preferred follows the success of Gentlemen Preferred, a musical with an all-black cast developed by Kick under the direction by Damon "Magic" Percy, and created by Curtis Lipscomb, M. Terrence Samson and Percy. Songs traditionally sung by women to men are sung by men to men to reflect same-gender-loving relationships.
Ladies Preferred promises a soul-stirring approach to R&B and pop songs traditionally performed by men to women such as "Have You Seen Her," "Brickhouse," and "My Girl." This cast of all-black female singers, a live music band, K'MoSoul and our host illusionist Romeo will provide an exciting cabaret-style review.
"We hope that each audience member can allow themselves to feel the emotions of each song and singer," said Percy. "We hope that this musical will be a landmark for us as well as the community."
Ladies Preferred is a fundraiser to benefit the future Detroit Lesbian & Gay Welcome Center, a vital information resource for the SGL community and visitors to Detroit. Women and men are welcome to attend this event.
