MCC Divine Peace marks 15 years

By Jillian Bogater

WATERFORD – Members of Metropolitan Church of Christ Divine Peace welcomed the Rev. Nancy Wilson to celebrate the Pontiac church's 15th anniversary.
The church's spiritual leader asked the crowd to be a voice against predjudice and encouraged them to be visible in the larger community.
"Think about what will make a difference," she said. "You are a catalyst for change."
Festivities at the Best Western Concorde Inn in Waterford featured a performance by the Detroit Together Men's Chorus and several guest speakers including Grace McClelland, executive director of the Ruth Ellis Center, and the Rev. Elder Diane Fisher.
Fisher challenged churchgoers to be more radical.
"We can be a bridge to more conservative churches and begin to question their role in the religious right," she said. "We need to speak to the people who may have not heard another interpretation of faith.
"Continue the work. It not only changes your ministry, it changes the world."
