Theater collects gifts for youth

LANSING – BoarsHead Theater is accepting unwrapped toys or games for children from ages 6-12 to benefit the Greater Lansing area Boy & Girls Clubs.
This not-for-profit organization has a goal of inspiring youth in the community to realize their potential, as productive and responsible young people. For more than 30 years this Lansing club has focused on children from disadvantaged circumstances, who lack resources, helping them build their sense of community involvement and belonging, as well as a solid personal sense of self-esteem.
"This year BoarsHead has created a partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs," said Marlene Shelton BoarsHead managing director, in a statement. "We would like to support the Club as a community organization and felt that we could give back to them, in some small measure, by having a holiday toy collection for these kids."
Carmen Turner, director of The Boys & Girls Club of Lansing, was thrilled Shelton shared with her the idea of the holiday collection.
"Inside every adult is that child that remembers the joy and excitement of opening a present at the holidays," Turner said. "That adult memory is every child's dream and I am so pleased that BoarsHead Theater is going to help make that dream a reality for these very deserving children at the Boys and Girls Club."
