DETROIT – The administrative staff of Plowshares Theatre Company has modified the remainder of its 2006-07 season in light of recent economic downturn in Michigan. The previously reported cancelled production of August Wilson's "King Hedley II" will be remounted for a full 4-week run during the 2007-08 season. Also, "Wedding Band" by Alice Childress will be postponed until next season.
Season 17 will close with the Michigan premiere of Al Letson's hip hop version of Shakespeare's Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Entitled "Julius X," the play follows the events of a Black Nationalist leader in 1965 Harlem and the group of assassins who wish him ill.
"Julius X" runs April 19 – May 20 at the Boll Family YMCA Theatre. The YMCA Theatre is located at 1401 Broadway Ave., in Downtown Detroit.
Tickets will range from $18-$28, with discounts available for students and groups. Tickets are available at the Plowshares box office.
