New, improved: BTL's online theater news

How many of you log on to https://www.pridesource.com each week to check out the latest theater news in Curtain Calls ONLINE? How many of you even know this online-only column exists? (And how many of you have noticed that little black bar at the top of this page that teases one or two stories that can be found in CC ONLINE?)
For the past few years, CC ONLINE has been the weekly depository of theater news that can't be found pretty much anywhere else – in print or online. Consisting mostly of press releases compiled from theaters all across Michigan and southern Ontario – and occasionally Chicago and other parts of the United States – the column was designed to be a one-stop destination to find out what's happening at the area's professional, community, educational and youth theaters.
Although many readers took advantage of this unique service, it wasn't without flaws. For starters, it wasn't designed to respond to breaking news that happened after the column was "put to bed" each week on Sunday night. Then there was its design: multiple stories were stacked one on top of another in a long, single column that made finding something of interest somewhat time-consuming and challenging.
But not any more.
"For sometime now, we've been talking about updating our popular Web site to make it more 'user-friendly' to people searching for all the latest theater news," said Susan Horowitz, BTL's co-publisher and editor-in-chief. "Although we already provide some of the best theater coverage in the state, there was still room for improvement. So what we introduced recently, we believe, will make a good product a truly great product!"
Readers can now log on to https://www.pridesource.com and click the "Theater" button at the top of the page, which will then automatically direct them to the homepage of BTL's brand-new Theater Section. There, links to reviews, previews, Theater Events and all the other theater-related stories that appear in the print edition of BTL will be found under the header "Theater News."
Stories that once were compiled into a single online column will now be found individually under the header "Theater ONLINE," with separate links to each.
And breaking news – such as show cancellations – will be posted immediately.
"Now, theatergoers will be able to quickly scan and locate the stories that interest them," Horowitz said. "And combined with Theater Events, the public now has one of the most extensive sources for theater news available at their fingertips. Or should I say, 'mouse clicks?"
Readers can expect the Theater Section homepage – excluding breaking news – will generally change each Thursday. "But we're still fine-tuning everything, so please bear with us for the next few weeks if we're a little late – or section titles change a little. Our goal – as always – is to best serve our readers, and we won't be satisfied with these improvements until we're sure we've accomplished that."
