She Loves Me' closes season at MSU

EAST LANSING – The Michigan State University Department of Theatre will be presenting the romantic musical comedy "She Loves Me." Running from April 19-29, this hilarious show promises its audience a night full of laughter, charm and wit.
Composed by the dynamic duo that created musical hits like "Fiddler on the Roof," and "Fiorello!," the show is about two feuding sales clerks who find solace in their romantic anonymous pen pals, and fail to realize that their respective correspondents are each other.
The MSU production is set in 1890s Paris, enhancing the whimsical charm and romance of the show. Most of the scenes take place in the parfumerie where the two sales clerks work, and the other store employees are all unique, charming and undeniably odd. "She Loves Me" is a show filled with endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance and nostalgia, yet is as universal and relevant as ever in this age of online romances.
The show, based on the play "Parfumerie" by Miklos Laszlo, premiered in 1963 and was nominated for five Tony Awards. A revival 30 years later saw great success, just years before the release of the popular movie "You've Got Mail," based on the same play.
Performances will be held in the Fairchild Theatre in the Auditorium on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, April 26 at 7:30p.m.; Friday, April 27 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m.
