Royal Oak concert to feature upgraded 1967 pipe organ

The Royal Oak First United Methodist Church Performing Arts Series will continue with an organ concert performed by Dr. Craig Scott Symons at 4 p.m. Feb. 10. Organ PLUS! includes music for organ and other instruments. The concert features works for English horn, trumpet, piano, violin, flute, string ensemble and voice. It also highlights the renovation and upgrades that were recently completed on the 1967 Schantz pipe organ.
Dr. Craig Scott Symons has been director of Music and Organist at the church since 1995. He is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy and holds degrees from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan.
The performance will be held at First United Methodist Church, which is located at the corner of 7th and Washington in downtown Royal Oak. Free parking is available behind the church and in the municipal parking structure at 6th and Lafayette. The concert is free, with a free-will offering received to assist future performances in the series.
