Granholm to be honored at Washtenaw Dems' annual dinner

The Washtenaw County Democratic Party will be hosting their annual dinner at 5 p.m. June 19 with a special guest: Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm. The host committee for the dinner includes state Sen. Liz Brater and state Reps. Kathy Angerer, Pam Byrnes, Alma Wheeler Smith and Rebekah Warren.
The evening, to be held at Washtenaw Community College's Morris Lawrence Building in Ann Arbor, will focus on celebrating 90 years of women's suffrage. Accordingly, their guest of honor will be Granholm, who was elected as Michigan's first-ever female governor in 2002.
Granholm was reelected in 2006 and will complete eight years of service at the end of this year. Due to term limits, she will not be running for reelection. She is expected to speak about her time as governor of Michigan during a period of unprecedented economic change and struggle, and to share her vision for the state's future.
The event will begin with a pre-dinner reception and registration at 5 p.m., and a buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The program starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $75 each or $600 for a table for eight. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit http://www.washtenawdems.org.
