Annual Planting Event Comes To Woodward

BY BTL STAFF

BIRMINGHAM – The Woodward Avenue Action Association will host their Fourth Annual Sunflower Gardens on Woodward event in hopes of beautifying the area.
Hundreds of flowers will be planted on Woodward between Six and Eight Mile Road and this year the efforts will include trees as well as colorful flowers.
Last year 14 Princeton Elm trees were planted on behalf of the Association's efforts and this year the groups hopes to plant 30 more.
Lori Duggan, wife of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, will attend the event held June 10 as the guest of honor. This year the Woodward Avenue Action Association has raised extra funds to plant additional foliage in the area and plans on planting 14 trees on Seven Mile and a dozen more on Woodward in the coming weeks.
One-hundred percent of all donations will go directly toward the community planting. Individuals who make a donation of $75 or higher are invited to the Garden Party, hosted by Norman Silk and Dale Morgan beginning at 6 p.m at the Frank Lloyd Wright residence in Palmer Woods. To volunteer and help out for the event, email the leadership at [email protected].
