Make the New Year Special by Adopting a Pet

BY BTL STAFF

Now that we've eaten an over-abundance of baked goods, indulged in lavish family meals and attended more holiday parties than our calendar has room for, we need motivation to work off all those extra calories.
Wouldn't it be nice to play hide and seek with a new kitten around the house? It's no secret a furry friend can help us drop a few unwanted pounds and develop healthy habits ahead of New Year's.
It's the perfect time to give abandoned or surrendered cats and kittens a chance at finding a permanent home. Tail Wagger's 1990, a local non-profit organization, is teaming up with the new Premier Pet Supply in Livonia to help cat and kitten lovers make that happen.
Premier Pet Supply invited the long-time, community-based organization into their new store to run their cat and kitten adoption center. Premier Pet Supply co-owner Steve Shamou says that "Tail Wagger's 1990 has a reputable name in the community for 28 years and it only made sense to invite them to run our adoption center with unwanted cats and kittens. I'm already thrilled at the results of the number of adoptions to date and excited that Premier Pet is partnering with Tail Wagger's to keep cats and kittens out of shelters."
All cats and kittens are vaccinated, feline leukemia and FIV tested and will be spayed or neutered prior to going into their new home. Tail Wagger's 1990 Founder Laura Zain states that "while our adoption process is fairly simple, potential adopters will be asked to complete an adoption application and encouraged to bring all family members out to spend time with their potential new cat or kitten."
The application process strictly goes through Tail Wagger's and potential adopters will be contacted within 24-48 hours. The cats and kittens can be visited every day during store hours and by asking a Premier Pet Supply associate or a Tail Waggers' volunteer that will be available in the evenings and weekends.
Tail Waggers' adoption program is volunteer-based. Anyone wishing to be part of the volunteer team can contact Shyanne Oakes at [email protected], or Latina Fuhr at [email protected].
Tail Wagger's 1990 is committed to helping people help animals. It is their ultimate goal to be able to support dedicated pet owners who are in need of assistance along with providing necessary funding for those animals in emergency situations.
