Affirmations Hosts Foster Parent Orientation Nov. 5

For many in the LGBTQ community who desire to be parents, caring for foster children is a popular way to both become a guardian and help children in need. However, familiarizing onesself with the process can be lengthy and confusing, especially for first-timers. To help interested people with that, Affirmations LGBTQ community center and Ennis Center for Children Inc. have partnered to provide an orientation for would-be foster parents.
"Join us on Monday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room for a 3-hour class that will provide participants with a brief overview of the Child Welfare System in Michigan," write event organizers. "(As well as) general foster parent responsibilities and licensing requirements."
For questions regarding the class, reach out directly to Erin Wright at 248-334-2715 or [email protected].
