Affirmations Hosts Foster Parent Orientation Nov. 5

For many in the LGBTQ community who desire to be parents, caring for foster children is a popular way to both become a guardian and help children in need. However, familiarizing onesself with the process can be lengthy and confusing, especially for first-timers. To help interested people with that, Affirmations LGBTQ community center and Ennis Center for Children Inc. have partnered to provide an orientation for would-be foster parents.
"Join us on Monday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room for a 3-hour class that will provide participants with a brief overview of the Child Welfare System in Michigan," write event organizers. "(As well as) general foster parent responsibilities and licensing requirements."
