Comprehensive online college scholarship database unveiled

WASHINGTON. D.C. –
This week the Human Rights Campaign Foundation released a comprehensive database of more than 160 scholarships available to LGBT and allied students. The list, which includes national, statewide and school-specific scholarships, was created by the Youth and Campus Outreach Program at Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
"All too often, LGBT students face obstacles in the pursuit of education, whether it be from a lack of family support or negative experiences in the classroom or on campus. This database is aimed at connecting students to the funding that they need and deserve," said Candace Gingrich, senior manager for the HRC Foundation's Youth and Campus Outreach Program. "In these challenging economic times, it's important that current and perspective students know these resources are available to them."
To increase awareness about these vital resources, organizations and schools that provide scholarships for LGBT and allied students are encouraged to add their scholarship information to the database at http://www.hrc.org/generationeq.
