Dean for America, Governor Howard Dean's Presidential campaign organization, has expanded its Michigan operation. With the grand opening of its Lansing office, there are now three branch offices of Dean for America in Michigan, staffed by 10 professional staffpersons and volunteer campaign workers. Besides Lansing, Dean for America has offices in Detroit and Livonia. Volunteers have conducted door-to-door canvassing throughout the state.
"Gov. Dean is determined to win Michigan," said Daren Berringer, state campaign coordinator for Michigan. "This dedication to winning the Great Lakes State is evident by not only the presence of three offices in the state, but by placing staff in the field to work with our over 7,700 grassroots volunteers." Gov. Dean currently leads the rest of the field in Michigan in the most recent statewide poll, with 21% of the likely voters surveyed saying they supported his candidacy and a 6 point lead over his next closest competitor.
