Diversity book discussion group to start

FERNDALE- Beginning Sunday, Nov.4 a book study discusson group will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Metropolitan Community Church. Topics are wide-ranging and the program has selections running once each month through next spring.
"I coordinated this Diversity Book Study Group because I realized that I read too many fluff books and maybe it was time to concentrate on some serious issues. Rev. Mark Bidwell and I discussed the group and he thought it would be a good idea, so I compiled a list of books. The suggestions came from Everybody Reads Bookstore in Lansing and East Lansing Public Library. I love to read and love to learn so I can do both in this group," said Ann Cox who attends MCCD and works at Between The Lines newspaper.

Book club scheduled discussions will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays as follows: Nov. 4, "Ending The War in Iraq," by Tom Hayden; Dec.9 . "Mountains Beyond Mountains," by Tracy Kidder; Jan. 13, "Last Woman Standing," by Winona LaDuke; Feb. 10, "They Take Our Jobs," by Aviva Chomsky; Mar. 9, "Stealing Buddha's Dinner," by Bich Minh Nguyen; April 13, "The Color of Water," by James McBride May 1, "Transgender Warriors," by Leslie Feinberg.
