Fox Theatre's 'Christmas Story' to Donate to Michigan Humane Society

DETROIT — "A Christmas Story, The Musical" has announced a local partnership with the Michigan Humane Society during their Fox Theatre engagement running Dec. 20 through 22. In honor of the stage production's two featured rescue dogs, Stella and Hoss, who play "The Bumpus Hounds," each ticket purchased now through Dec. 22 at 6 p.m., using the code "MHS" will help raise funds to support the organization's mission to improve and save lives through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for animals.
The Michigan Humane Society, founded in 1877, is the oldest and largest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state. Each year, MHS achieves 100 percent placement of more than 10,000 healthy and treatable animals through compassionate care, community engagement, and advocacy for humane treatment. The MHS operates three shelter and veterinary centers in Detroit, Rochester Hills and Westland; five adoption partnerships with Premier Pet Supply, Petco and PetSmart; and both a Cruelty Investigation Department and a Statewide Animal Response Team.
"A Christmas Story, The Musical," brings the classic 1983 movie to life on stage. Set in 1940s Indiana, a young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams: an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish.
