GLAAD launches 'Write Now!' daily online activism program

LOS ANGELES – The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has launched "Write Now!," a new daily online activism opportunity at GLAAD.org that presents timely LGBT-related news articles and offers a one-click mechanism for activists to submit letters to the editor in response.
"Write Now! is a powerful way to increase LGBT visibility in the media by acknowledging the efforts of inclusive journalists and encouraging fairer coverage of the issues affecting our lives," said Matt Lum, GLAAD's digital content manager. "At a time when LGBT issues – particularly relating to the fight for civil marriage equality – are front and center in the news media, it's important to give our community a means to make their voices heard on the Letters to the Editor pages."
Write Now! also will offer television clips of LGBT-related coverage using GLAAD.org's new multimedia library, allowing users to view video clips and e-mail feedback to program producers.
Write Now! can be accessed daily via the GLAAD.org homepage (www.glaad.org). An archive of recent Write Now! articles is available at www.glaad.org/action/write"now.php.
