I've made my appointments to see both my state senator and representative to tell them why I oppose that Marriage Protection Amendment. Have you made yours?
It's easy to do. You can use the website www.michigan.gov to find your legislators, and once found, the site will give you their snail and email addresses, fax and phone numbers. When you call, the aide will help you schedule an appointment, and can guide you to what days your legislators will be in the district (my senator's district office is just two miles from my house).
A half hour appointment should be enough for you to tell your legislator how much this amendment will hurt you and those you love and to show that what our opponents say about us is simply not true. If you need talking points, organizations such as the Triangle Foundation will be glad to help. The most important thing is to just do it!
