Conservative radio personality and recent Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Rush Limbaugh recently suggested that presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg doesn't have a chance to be elected president because he is a gay man who will take fire from Donald Trump.
"And they got to be looking at that, and they've got to be saying, that despite all the great progress and despite all the great wokeness, and despite all the great ground that's been covered, America's still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage president. They have to be saying this, don't they? Now, there may be some Democrats who think that is the ticket. There may be some Democrats who think that's exactly what we need to do, Rush. Get a gay guy kissing his husband on stage, ram it down Trump's throat, and beat him in the general election. Really. Having fun envisioning that."
Buttigieg responded to the remarks on CNN's "State of the Union" from Limbaugh.
"Well, I love my husband. I'm faithful to my husband. On stage we usually just go for a hug. But I love him very much, and I'm not going take lectures on family values from the likes of Rush Limbaugh," he said.
He received public support from Michigan Attorney General via Twitter on Valentine's Day, too.
In honor of Valentines Day, here is an awkward picture of me making out with my super hot wife on election night. ⁦@PeteButtigieg⁩ is not going back in the closet, and neither am I. Happy VD to you too, Rush Limbaugh. #Loveislove https://t.co/O8I7MlvAMx
