Movement on anti-gay marriage amendment vote may be in the works

Action alert!

LANSING – Senator Alan Cropsey's (R-DeWitt) Senate Joint Resolution E, which would put the issue of banning marriage equality on the Michigan ballot, may come up for a vote in the next few weeks in the Michigan Senate, according to the Triangle Foundation.
If SJR E passes the legislature and voters, it would ban marriages for gays and lesbians by amending the Michigan Constitution, and it could ban domestic partner benefits and civil unions.
Gary Glenn, head of the American Family Association of Michigan, is pressuring Michigan Senators to vote on the issue. It is essential that members of the Michigan legislature hear from LGBT people and their allies on this issue, especially Senators.
To send a fax and take action on this issue in under two minutes visit http://ga3.org/campaign/AAGLBT3 online. Tell your senator to "say no" to the marriage amendment.
