New organization supports trans students at U of M

ANN ARBOR – Trans students and faculty of the University of Michigan have organized Transforum to support trans students, faculty and alumni of the University. According to their brochure, "Transforum is dedicated to the civil rights, health and well-being of all members of our diverse community…We combat ignorance and sexism, the sources of both transphobia and homophobia, when we unite as a community."
The organization was instrumental in bringing internationally-recognized trans activist and author Jamison Green to U of M on Oct. 11 and 12, and was the sponsor of Green's keynote address during the University's Coming Out Day activities.
