Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is openly lesbian, is going public with news that she was the target of a “heavily armed” man motivated by anti-Semitism who is now in FBI custody.

The would-be attacker, Texas resident Jack Eugene Carpenter III, posted an explicit threat to his public Twitter feed, tweeting, “I’m heading back to Michigan now threatening to carry out the punishment of death to anyone that is jewish in the Michigan govt if they don’t leave, or confess, and now that kind of problem. Because I can Legally do that, right?”

Carpenter was in possession of “three handguns, a 12 gauge shotgun and two hunting rifles,” including an MIA, military-style weapon, according to an FBI criminal complaint filed Feb. 18.

Nessel confirmed details about the investigation on her Twitter account, posting, "It is my sincere hope that the federal authorities take this offense just as seriously as my Hate Crimes & Domestic Terrorism Unit takes plots to murder elected officials.”

According to an NBC News report, Carpenter’s Twitter feed included a post in February claiming he had been fired from UM “for refusing to take experimental medication.”
