WASHINGTON – The National Center for Transgender Equality is running a campaign to get more people involved in equality for everyone. Each week during 2006 the organization is featuring an idea for action at the local level.
For example, on the NCTE web site, idea number nine is, "Change the Policy of an Organization You Belong To."
"Many of us belong to organizations — neighborhood groups, professional associations, labor unions, hobby clubs and more. One way to further transgender equality is to add policies that protect people from discrimination based on gender identity and expression or make clear that transgender people are welcome in your group."
