The second annual Taste of Ferndale fundraiser is headed to Via Nove at 6-9 p.m. Feb. 16. The event aims to raise money for the Ferndale Community Foundation. More than 12 of the area restaurants will provide samplings of their unique dishes, The Metro Jazz Voices will provide musical stylings and a silent auction will be held throughout the night.
Along with Via Nove, Diablo's, Howe's Bayou, Rosie O'Grady's, Pete's Place, Apple Fritter, B. Nektar, Meadery, Inyo, the Emory/WAB and Anita's Kitchen will be among the restaurants participating in the event this year.
"This is one of the coolest events in Ferndale, and it benefits the Community Foundation, which has made a significant impact for area non-profit organizations over the years," stated Ferndale Mayor and board member Craig Covey.
The Foundation, formed in 2003, raises money in order to provide grants to projects being completed within the city of Ferndale. Since its inception, the foundation has donated over $35,000 to area initiatives, including the FernCare Free Clinic, Inc., the Ferndale Historical Society, the Public Art Project, Ferndale Public Schools and many others.
"Last year's event raised over $6,000 and we are looking for this year to be even bigger," said Foundation Chairperson Dan Martin. "The business community and the residents have been very supportive of the foundation and this is a great way to celebrate Mardi Gras as well as experience some of the best food this city has to offer."
