What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) is a format based on XML, created to easily share web content, and is particularly suitable for news items. You can use it to display headlines on another site or you can use a programme called a "news aggregator" to read the news. These programmes allow you to subscribe to various RSS feeds from different news sites. The programmes automatically go to the web sites to check for updates, so the stories come to you, without you having to check the sites for new stories.

BTL publishes an RSS feed, updated when our site is updated, that includes the ten topmost news articles on our site, as well as any breaking news.

Our webmaster, Kevin Bryant, describes RSS in this issue of Press Pass Q: http://www.presspassq.com/detail.cfm?id=42
